St. Paul, MN — Monday, Representative Andrew Myers (R-Tonka Bay) voted to support the 2025 Capital Investment Bill, which provides statewide investments in clean water, road and bridge improvements, vital asset preservation, and supports local jobs and long-term growth. While the final bill did not include direct appropriations for local governments, including communities in District 45A, Myers remains committed to advancing local projects through continued legislative work and with the support of our mayors, council members, and city administrators.
“As a member of the Capital Investment Committee, I’ve been a strong advocate for key infrastructure projects in Minnetonka Beach, Excelsior, Mound, and Minnetrista,” said Myers. “This year’s bill takes important steps to support clean water, drinking water systems, and transportation safety across the state.”
The bonding bill includes $206 million for clean and drinking water infrastructure, $86.5 million for roads and bridges, including for local roads and townships, and $33 million for DNR asset preservation, helping improve public lands, trails, and parks across Minnesota.
“This investment was narrowly focused on statewide infrastructure needs, with no earmarks or direct appropriations for local projects,” Myers said. “I know that’s disappointing for our communities who were counting on support from the state for critical local improvements. I share that frustration as many of our cities will now have to make some tough choices. But this isn’t the end of the conversation. The Suburban Solutions Caucus is already working on a broader package for next year that will give us the opportunity to prioritize suburban communities like Long Lake, Minnetonka Beach, Excelsior, Mound, Minnetrista, Shorewood, Tonka Bay and more.”
