Merry Christmas: A Season of Need, Gratitude, and Giving

Dear friends and neighbors,

As the Christmas season surrounds us with beautiful lights, joyful laughter, and the comfort of familiar traditions, I find myself reflecting on what truly makes this time of year meaningful: connection, generosity, and the simple act of looking out for one another.

For many of us, the holidays are a time to gather with family and friends, to share a meal, and to celebrate the blessings in our lives. But it is also a time to remember our neighbors who may be facing challenges or uncertainty. Whether it’s putting food on the table, keeping a home warm, or just knowing someone cares, the support we give—and receive—has the power to change lives.

In District?18A, we are fortunate to have several incredible local organizations working every day to make sure no one goes without: ECHO Food Shelf in Mankato, Saint Peter Area Food Shelf, the Salvation Army in Mankato, and Feeding Our Communities Partners in North Mankato. These programs remind us that caring for others isn’t just seasonal—it’s a part of who we are as a community.

This holiday season, I hope we all take a moment to notice the quiet ways kindness shows up in our lives: a neighbor lending a hand, a friend sharing a meal, a volunteer offering their time to help someone in need. These are the gifts that matter most, and they are the ones that linger long after the season passes.

From my family to yours, I wish you a Christmas filled with warmth, comfort, and the joy that comes from being surrounded by people who care. Thank you for all that you do to make our communities stronger, kinder, and more connected—not just at Christmas, but all throughout the year.
