Legislative Update: April 10, 2026Dear Neighbors, Our SD 64 Town Hall, originally scheduled for April 1, has now been rescheduled to Sunday, April 19, at 6 p.m. The event is free, and everyone in the district is welcome to attend. Please click here to RSVP, and the location will be provided to you before the event. I hope to see you there! Lowering Costs, Supporting WorkersSt. Paul residents are paying more than ever at the grocery store, and while federal policies like tariffs play a role, there are steps we can take in Minnesota to lower costs. One bill I'm supporting would ban surveillance pricing, stopping companies from using your data and AI to set personal prices based on what they know you’re willing to pay. That means you could be paying more for ordering the same items, at the same time, than your neighbor. It’s wrong, and DFLers are working to end it. I met with members of UFCW, who work at our grocery stores, about the bill. We also discussed concerns over the use of electronic price tags, which will make it even easier for companies to use AI and algorithms to set prices. Voting to Protect MinnesotansI voted in favor of legislation to keep ICE out of schools, ban assault weapons, and ban high-capacity magazines. These measures are about protecting our children, and our communities have been calling on their legislators to act. But when we’ve brought them forward in committees, House Republicans have blocked them. The motions we put forward were an opportunity for Republicans to show they take the issues seriously and put humanity over politics. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, they continued to vote lockstep against the bills. Our kids deserve to go to school without the fear of federal agents terrorizing their classmates, and without the fear of yet another deadly school shooting, like the one that has brought the Annunciation families into committee after committee to call for action. We’ll continue to use every tool we have to pass these bills and protect Minnesotans. Stay ConnectedIt is an honor to represent our community at the Capitol.
