The 2022 Legislative Session

Neighbors, 

We’re almost two weeks into the 2022 legislative session, and already I’m happy to report that we’ve passed bipartisan legislation into law. Here’s hoping it’ll be that easy going forward. The bill we passed last week extends the COVID-19 workers’ comp presumption for public safety and healthcare workers. Meaning that if they were to contract COVID-19, instead of facing the impossible task of proving where they were exposed, it is instead presumed they did so in the line of duty, and are therefore eligible for workers’ compensation benefits. 

These are the Minnesotans that keep us safe and healthy, and have continued to do so in often highly exposed positions during this pandemic. The least we can do is give them and their families the financial peace of mind in the event that they catch this virus.

Session Priorities

This session, I continue in my role as the Chair of the House State Government Finance and Elections Committee, where I’ll endeavor to ensure your government remains responsive to your needs and effective in its role of providing the services Minnesotans deserve.  

Ahead of session, the House DFL released our proposals in the areas of Public Safety, Climate Action, Education, and Economic Security, which you can read about below.
