Bonding Bill Passes House with Funding for Brockton Interchange

Monday, May 14, 2018

ST. PAUL, MN—On Monday, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed a bipartisan $825 million Capital Investment bill that includes a project championed by Rep. Joyce Peppin, R-Rogers, to fund the Brockton Interchange in Dayton. In total, $13.5 million would be provided for the project, allowing for the construction of a full access point and auxiliary lanes on I-94 just east of the existing Highway 101 overpass. This is among the longest stretches of freeway without an exit in the entire metro area.

“The Brockton Interchange is such an important local project and something I have been working to get passed and funded for a long time. This project will help alleviate traffic congestion and make accessing our community easier,” said Rep. Peppin. “I am pleased that House Republicans have prioritized the Brockton Interchange as part of our larger bonding package, focusing on critical infrastructure needs in our state.”

More than two-thirds of the Capital Investment bill is dedicated to brick-and-mortar projects, such as roads and bridges, water infrastructure and statewide asset preservation. The bill will also need to pass the Senate before heading to Governor Dayton’s desk for signature.
