RELEASE: Rep. Scott Pre-Files Two Bills

Thursday, January 28, 2016

ST. PAUL, MN – With the 2016 legislative session beginning soon, members of the House of Representatives filed bills in advance of the March 8 start date. Representative Peggy Scott, R-Andover, pre-filed two bills for the upcoming session.

The first piece of legislation would have the Department of Natural Resources grant a permit to clean up the narrow leaf cattail on Round Lake in Andover.

“This noxious plant has overtaken Round Lake and must be cleaned to make Round Lake more usable,” said Scott. “I know this is an important issue for our area, and I look forward to working on this legislation during session.”

The second bill would better protect Minnesotans’ driver and vehicle information from being shared with third parties who intend to use the data for illegal purposes.

“This issue has come to light after a third party posted information that led to a string of burglaries in the Twin Cities,” said Scott. “The state needs some avenue of recourse to punish outside entities who misuse this private information.”
