House Capital Investment Committee Begins Southeast Minnesota Bonding Tour

Saint Paul, MN - Tomorrow, Co-Chair Mary Franson and members of the House Capital Investment Committee will begin a two-day bonding tour of Southeast Minnesota to review proposed infrastructure projects across the region. Lawmakers will meet with local officials and community leaders to discuss funding priorities and see firsthand how state investments could strengthen key public assets.

The tour will include stops in several counties, featuring a range of projects tied to infrastructure, higher education, public safety, and more:

Dakota County – Minnesota Zoo and Apple Valley Water Treatment, Lakeville County Road 50 improvements, and water treatment facilities in Hastings.

Rice County – Northfield Community Resource Center, Minnesota State Academies in Faribault, and River Bend Nature Center.

Waseca County – City of Waseca clean water infrastructure improvements.

Freeborn County – Albert Lea Wastewater Treatment Facility, Clarks Grove water and sewer upgrades, and a wetlands restoration project.

Mower County – Hormel Institute BioImaging Center and Riverland Community College in Austin.

Olmsted County – Materials Recovery Facility and Rochester driving tour highlighting key infrastructure and transportation projects.

Fillmore and Winona Counties – Historic Forestville Bridge, Winona State University projects, and regional wastewater and sewer system upgrades.

Wabasha County – Highway 60 realignment and North Zumbro Sanitary Sewer District improvements.

Washington and Dakota Counties – Newport inflow and infiltration upgrades and South St. Paul public works and family aquatic facilities.

“These tours give us the opportunity to meet directly with local leaders, see the projects in person, and hear about the needs of their communities,” said Co-Chair Franson. “It’s an important part of our work to make sure every dollar in the bonding bill is invested responsibly and supports long-term growth across Minnesota.”

This marks the fourth of five regional tours the House Capital Investment Committee will take across Minnesota. Input gathered during these site visits will help guide lawmakers as they prepare bonding recommendations for the upcoming legislative session.
