“This session had its fair share of hurdles, but I’m proud of the work we got done—especially when it comes to the Legacy bill. As chair, I made it a top priority to bring people together and pass a responsible, well-balanced bill that protects the investments Minnesotans care about: clean water, parks and trails, the arts, and our rich cultural history.
Believe it or not, we had some real bipartisan cooperation in the process—proof that when we roll up our sleeves and focus on the work, good things happen. I want to thank my colleagues, Republican and Democrat alike, who came to the table in good faith and helped move this bill across the finish line.
Of course, I’d hoped we’d be wrapping everything up this week. Heading into a special session isn’t ideal, and it’s unfortunate that valuable time early in session wasn’t used more wisely. But I’m an optimist—and I believe we can carry forward the same spirit of collaboration we saw in the Legacy Committee to finish the job and pass the final bills Minnesotans are counting on.
I’ll keep doing what I’ve always done: working hard, listening to my constituents, and pushing for smart, fiscally responsible solutions that actually serve the people of this great state.”
Further details on the upcoming special session are expected to be announced soon.
