Memorial Day Weekend Events

Greetings,

Often times hailed as the unofficial start to summer, Memorial Day weekend has a much greater significance and tradition in our nation. 

Memorial Day weekend brings family and friends together for picnics and BBQ’s, but it is also the time of year that we as a nation remember those who gave their lives in defense of freedom for our very way of life.

Please take some time this weekend to honor and pay tribute to the fallen men and women of our Armed Services and remember their sacrifice and that of their families.

I will attend a number of local Memorial Day weekend services and encourage you to do the same. If you are unable to attend a Memorial Day service, remember to take a few moments at 3:00 pm for the national moment of silence.

Please take a few minutes to help educate the younger generation on the real meaning of Memorial Day.

Monday, May 30, 2016

9:00 am Veteran Park – Sartell

9:00 a.m. - Sauk Rapids Cemeteries located near Sauk Rapids – Rice Middle School in Sauk Rapids

9:00 a.m. - The Knights of Columbus Council 961 are hosting Mass at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud with Bishop Kettler

10:30 a.m. - The St. Cloud Metropolitan Veterans Council is hosting a parade and ceremony at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System.

1 p.m. - The VFW is hosting a dedication for a Veterans Memorial at VFW Post 428.
