RELEASE: House Republican Statement on Passage of Environment and Natural Resources Omnibus Bill

Thursday, April 22, 2021

St. Paul, MN—State Representative Josh Heintzeman, R-Nisswa, the Republican-lead on the House Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy issued the following statement after passage of House File 1076, the Omnibus Environment and Natural Resources bill. The bill gives more power to bureaucrats at MPCA to enforce new regulations that will create uncertainty for job providers, and increases fees on several recreational activities that will make it more difficult for Minnesotans to enjoy the great outdoors. HF 1076 was approved 70-63.

“This bill represents a missed opportunity as Democrats have focused their efforts on growing government, raising fees, and pushing burdensome regulations that will crush businesses and drive many out of the state,” said Rep. Heintzeman. “As a policy maker, I have always supported an approach that strikes a balance on policies that protect our God-given natural resources while avoiding the mistakes of the past that have grown government, hurt businesses, and ultimately done more harm than good. This bill sadly follows the same, tired formula and is a step backwards for Minnesotans.”
