Legislative Update from Rep. Josh Heintzeman

Friday, January 20, 2023

Dear Neighbors,

In an astounding contrast to the bipartisanship and progress made last week, Democrats passed the most extreme and unsafe abortion bill off the House floor Thursday evening. This bill would make abortion available at any time during pregnancy up until birth for any reason, no questions asked. By refusing to accept commonsense amendments that would require things like the licensure of abortion facilities or requiring that parents be notified if a minor seeks an abortion, Democrats are aligning Minnesota’s abortion policy with nations like North Korea and China.

In fact, Minnesota will now be an outlier in the United State and the entire western world.

This extreme legislation is out of touch with the vast majority of Minnesotans and directly threatens the health and safety of not only the unborn, but also women. As a pro-life legislator, I have always focused my efforts on promoting bills that support women and protect the unborn. This bill does the exact opposite.

While Thursday was a significant setback for pro-life Minnesotans, the fight is not over. I encourage you to reach out to Democrat Senators here in Minnesota and respectfully ask them to vote against this bill. I would also invite you join me for Sunday’s annual March for Life taking place here in Brainerd. The plan is to meet at the corner of south 6th Street and Oak Street at 12:45.

See the flyer below for more information.
