NISSWA, MN — Following news that Governor Tim Walz spent $430,000 of taxpayer money on outside lawyers to prepare for a brief congressional hearing, Representative Josh Heintzeman (R-Nisswa) issued the following statement:
“Spending nearly half a million taxpayer dollars on what amounts to PR coaching for a former member of Congress is both unnecessary and offensive. Governor Walz wasn’t even the sole testifier during this relatively short hearing, and he certainly didn’t need professional help to answer questions truthfully. Minnesotans deserve leaders who are prepared, transparent, and respectful of the public’s money. This kind of waste undermines trust and shows how disconnected this administration has become from the people it’s supposed to serve.”
Representative Heintzeman is calling for a full accounting of the costs and justification for the payment, along with greater oversight of how taxpayer dollars are used by the Governor’s office.
