Heintzeman Responds to Governor Walz's Executive Orders
St. Paul — Following the announcement of two executive orders issued by Governor Tim Walz, Rep. Josh Heintzeman (R-Nisswa) issued the following statement:
“Instead of pandering to his base, the Governor should join my Republican colleagues and me in delivering real public safety solutions that address the root causes of violence, not advisory councils and PSA campaigns tied to laws that already exist or policies that infringe on the rights of law-abiding Minnesotans.
“Knowing his gun ban proposals cannot pass and would not withstand constitutional scrutiny, the Governor has chosen actions that generate headlines while avoiding the hard, consequential work needed to improve public safety. These moves may provide media cover, but they do not make our communities safer.
“Another big piece missing: clarity. The Governor likes to talk about bans without clearly explaining what he wants to prohibit, how it would be enforced, or how it would improve safety. If he believes immediate action is necessary, he should bring those ideas forward openly and work through the legislative process.
“Minnesotans expect honesty, accountability, and solutions that focus on results instead of politics. That’s what will actually make our communities safer.”
