Skyrocketing Gas, Groceries, and Crime

Friday, July 22, 2022

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope you are enjoying time making memories with friends and family this summer! I’ve been very busy continuing the fight for truth and protecting our constitutional values and priorities!

gas

The station in the foreground closed a couple of years ago and still shows prices from the last day it was open before Biden was sworn in: $1.83 per gallon of unleaded and $2.09 for diesel. The station in the background remains in business and recently was selling unleaded for $4.54 per gallon ... $5.26 for diesel! These pair of gas stations along Hwy. 10 provide a stark demonstration of the pain Biden-Walz failed leadership is inflicting on all of us.

PAIN

Among the top issues Minnesotans continue to reach out to me about is the skyrocketing gas, groceries, and crime. Hardworking people across our community and state are having to make sacrifices as record inflation chews up more and more of the family budget. A constituent just this week reached out to me regarding the soaring electricity prices. I’m incredibly frustrated because the pain we are all experiencing could have been avoided. Logic-defying energy policy creating uncertainty, instability, and skyrocketing costs, government printing trillions of dollars driving inflation, and efforts to defund the police emboldening criminals…it’s all just insanity!

Minnesotans are demanding real solutions. Energy policy should be all-inclusive including clean coal and nuclear power to return stability. Government can no longer hand out “free” money like candy for every special interest group with their hand out. We are all suffering the consequences of the economy being flooded with more and more “free” dollars. Our professional law enforcement officers need to be supported so they can keep us safe and law-abiding citizens can live without fear of being carjacked or shot. Minnesota desperately needs new leadership and Minnesotans desperately need deep, permanent tax cuts to keep more money in their pockets and out of government coffers.

PRO-LIFE

The recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade was an incredible answer to prayer and an affirmation of the truth the Constitution DOES NOT protect the termination of innocent life in the womb. The Supreme Court decision returns abortion regulation back to the 50 states. Unfortunately, Gov. Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison are committed to making Minnesota a mecca for those seeking abortions. Much work remains ahead of us in Minnesota to continuing advancing pro-life truth.

"I'm honored to be among the '2022 Housing Leadership Award' recipients recently announced by Housing First Minnesota and its membership of nearly 1,000 homebuilding, remodeling, and associated industry businesses," said State Rep. Eric Lucero. "As both a licensed real estate agent and licensed general contractor myself, I'm working to eliminate government roadblocks directly responsible for driving up the cost of homeownership."

SECOND AMENDMENT VICTORY

We know firearms are inanimate objects and we also know criminals who choose to use firearms to hurt others are evil. In another recent U.S. Supreme Court victory, truth of an actual constitutional right was advanced. Our Constitution guarantees the individual right to firearm ownership and law-abiding citizens the individual liberty to carry firearms to protect themselves and others against evil criminals. By a 6-3 majority, the Supreme Court got it right. This is a great victory for truth and our Republic! I will continue to be among the leaders in Minnesota fighting for Castle Doctrine, Stand Your Ground, and Constitutional Carry for law abiding citizens.

60-DAY RULE

A 60-day post-session rule does not allow members of the Legislature to send broad communications from our official legislative accounts at this point in an election year. This being the case, this is my last legislative update until after the November election.

Please continue to reach out to me and let me know if I can help you in any way since I am still able to communicate with constituents individually. It continues to be my humble honor to serve our great community fighting for truth and I wish you a fantastic remainder of summer!
