ST. PAUL – Honoring their commitment to supporting veterans, the Minnesota House passed the Veterans and Military Omnibus bill with a 122-1 vote.
“Our veterans deserve the best care Minnesota can provide. Care includes proper payment, support and resources for whatever they need,” said Nels Pierson, R-Rochester.
The bill provides $2.2 million to the Department of Military Affairs and an additional $52,351 to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Of those funds, $26 million will go toward construction and improvements to Veterans Homes in Bemidji, Montevideo and Preston.
The bill will provide bonuses for gold star families and veterans who served following September 11, 2001.
Pierson is a supporter of the military and veterans. This year, he co-authored legislation to provide school districts with information on military careers.
