Edina, MN— Rep. Dario Anselmo, R-Edina, issued the following statement regarding recent news that Southview Junior High is receiving $247,000 in school safety grant funding. Last session, the Legislature approved and Governor Dayton signed into law $25 million in capital investment funds that schools could apply for to make physical safety improvements. The Minnesota Department of Education is expected to formally announce the grant allocations in a news release.
“School safety was a significant focus this session, and I was proud to support a wide range of ideas to reduce gun violence, address student mental health, and help keep kids safe in our schools,” said Rep. Anselmo. “I am pleased that Southview Junior High received this school safety grant funding, and I will continue to champion measures at the Legislature that puts our students and schools first.”
