House Capital Investment Committee Tours Southeast Minnesota, Chair Lee Statement on Federal Infrastructure Bill

Wednesday, November 10, 2021

St. Paul, MN – Today, the House Capital Investment Committee completed their tour of Southeast Minnesota, the fourth tour of their statewide stops. The committee and other House members visited sites of proposed investment for the regional economy, including the Minnesota Zoo, state colleges and universities, the Hmong American Farmers Association, wastewater treatment systems, river ports, and other sites.

This week’s tour comes on the heels of Congress’ passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which would potentially help many of the projects the committee has visited in the past month. State Representative Fue Lee (DFL - Minneapolis), Chair of the House Capital Investment Committee, released the following statement:

“While the exact impact of the federal legislation remains to be seen, it’s clear that if Congress can come together to deliver historic investments in our aging infrastructure, we can step up to do the same in the Minnesota Legislature. Our tours throughout the state have shown time and again that the need for capital investment and the jobs that accompany them are so great, it’ll take both federal and state efforts to ensure all Minnesotans can have access to the resources they need and deserve.”

The list of stops and presentations from this week’s tour can be found here. The committee will complete their statewide tour next week, visiting projects in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the surrounding suburbs from November 16-18.
