Dear Neighbors,

In partnership with Governor Walz and Attorney General Ellison, I joined my legislative colleagues in co-authoring legislation to address medical debt. Medical debt is the leading cause of bankruptcy in the country, and our Debt Fairness Act is the response Minnesotans need.

Too many people are saddled with unmanageable debt, and our current laws have been insufficient at addressing this dilemma. Medical debt depletes peoples’ rainy-day funds, causes them to incur credit card debt, and forgo medical treatment altogether. The Debt Fairness Act aims to unburden Minnesotans from medical debt and help working and middle class families make ends meet.

Environmental Funding Survey

Did you know that a portion of Minnesota’s lottery proceeds go towards protecting our environment and natural resources through the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund? Since 1991, the ENRTF has provided approximately $700 million to over 1,700 projects around the state.

ENRTF

Last week, we passed legislation I co-authored to fund 101 environmental projects throughout the state, and now your input could help fund even more!

The Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources is now gathering input about the future of Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund spending and taking feedback about what environmental issues are most important to you. Make your voice heard about how to improve Minnesota's environment & natural resources.

You can take the survey here.

Thank you so much to everyone that showed up for this week’s District 59 Town Hall. We had a great turnout and a lot of meaningful conversations - it’s an incredible honor to represent such an engaged district. Much of the event was recorded, which you can watch on Sen. Champion’s Facebook page.
