Minneapolis, MN - Yesterday, federal agents shot an individual in North Minneapolis. In the aftermath, federal agents indiscriminately deployed tear gas, impacting not just those exercising their first amendment rights, but neighboring homes.
State Representative Fue Lee (DFL - Minneapolis), who serves the area in the Minnesota House, released the following statement:
“My heart goes out to our Northside community and the Minnesotans impacted by another act of violence involving an ICE officer. We do not deserve this, no neighborhood or corner of Minnesota does,” said Rep. Lee. “I encourage our neighbors to remain peaceful, know their rights, look out for each other, and above all stay safe. As true today as it was last week - for the safety of our communities - ICE must leave Minnesota.”
The shooting comes one week after the killing of Renee Good by an ICE officer in the Powderhorn neighborhood of Minneapolis on January 7.
