Earlier this week, the non-partisan legislative auditor (OLA) released a comprehensive report detailing widespread mismanagement at the Department of Health’s Office of Health Facility Complaints (OHFC). This is the entity that it responsible with processing and investigating complaints of health care facilities violating state or federal regulations.
This report comes on the heels of a Star Tribune story that revealed widespread elder abuse in Minnesota that was not being followed up on by the agency that is tasked with investigating.
Clearly, such mismanagement by the Department of Health is unacceptable and I am grateful that legislation has been introduced that will increase transparency and improve the reporting process at our long-term care facilities.
It is my commitment to ensure that our aging seniors receive the dignity and respect they deserve.
I was visited by local FFA students this week, thanks for stopping by!
Here I am pictured with the state FFA leadership team, the first all-female leadership team in state history!
Paige Barthel, a student from Wadena, shadowed me for an afternoon this week. She was visiting as part of the FCCLA organization.
