Capitol Newsletter from Rep. John Poston

Friday, May 1, 2020

Dear Neighbors,

Yesterday, Governor Walz announced an extension of the state’s Stay at Home order until May 18th. The order was supposed to expire on Monday, May 4th.

In addition to extending the order, Governor Walz announced a modification that will allow retail businesses to begin offering curbside pick-up starting May 4th. According to the Governor, this will allow up to 30,000 more Minnesotans back to work. If you'd like more information, you can read the executive order here.

Guidance for businesses on curbside pickup can be found here.

I am disappointed by yesterday’s news and know that many of you looking to go back to work feel the same way. It is concerning that big box retailers have been allowed to stay open while small, local businesses have been forced to remain shut. The Governor should trust Minnesotans and businesses to open in a safe and responsible manner.

We can’t afford to wait any longer.
