STATEMENT
State Representative Nolan West (R-Blaine) issued the following statement after the NCAA announced it would start setting a framework to allow college athletes to benefit from the use of their names and images.
“The NCAA has always been on the wrong side of this debate, so today’s news is a positive step forward. Now the NCAA must clarify what ‘benefit’ means, because we want to ensure that athletes are actually compensated for the use of their own image. More work needs to be done, and hopefully the NCAA will move quickly to implement these needed changes.”
