Rep. Jeff Brand supports, House passes the Democracy for the People Act
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Tonight, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed the Democracy for the People Act. The bill seeks to protect and strengthen the freedom to vote, reduce the influence of dark money and corporations in our politics, and ensures our democracy is fair, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of Minnesotans across the state.
Rep. Jeff Brand (DFL – Saint Peter) is a co-author of the legislation and voted in support.
“Those who truly care about election integrity will fight to expand voting access, not restrict it,” said Rep. Brand. “For decades, the GOP has made it harder and harder for people to vote across the country. We’ve seen unprecedented amounts of voter suppression, intimidation, and attempts to delegitimize our elections system. In Minnesota, we’re putting our foot down once and for all and sending a clear message that making your voice heard at the ballot box is a right, not a privilege.”
