Legislative Update - RSVP for our Community Conversation on Gun Violence Prevention

Tuesday, November 4, 2025
CKW HEADER

Friends and Neighbors,

I want to give you a heads up about an upcoming event this month with our District 49 legislative team.

Here in Minnesota, we’ve experienced two very high profile tragedies this year. In June, an assassin stalked a number of DFL legislators, murdering Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman and critically wounding Senator John Hoffman and Yvette Hoffman. In September, a shooter wounded and killed many children at Annunciation Catholic School. Keeping our communities safe is my top priority and as a mom of four young kids, I’m committed to taking legislative action to prevent this type of violence.

Sen. Cwodzinski, Rep. Falconer, and I have heard your concerns and will be holding a Community Conversation focused on this issue on November 22, where we’ll be joined by a panel of advocates and specialists to field your questions and discuss the path ahead as we work to build a safer Minnesota for everyone.

Community Conversation

We’ll be holding the event from 10:30am to 11:30am that Saturday, with the in-district location information to come later for those who RSVP here

Please let us know if you can make it, and if you have any specific questions or topics related to the issue of gun violence that you’d like us to address.

Regardless of whether you can join us that day, always feel free to reach out with your input and questions. You can contact me through email at rep.carlie.kotyza-witthuhn@house.mn.gov or by phone at 651-296-7449. You can also contact my Legislative Assistant, Caleb, at 651-297-7025 or via email at caleb.rohrer@house.mn.gov.

It is an honor and a privilege to represent you at the Capitol.

All my best,

Rep. Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn
