Legislative Update- October 29, 2021

Rep. Huot

Dear Neighbors,

I hope this finds you well. Between connecting with community members, refereeing high school football, and touring the state as a member of the House Capital Investment Committee, it’s been a busy fall.

My colleague State Representative Heather Edelson, who represents Edina, and I have placed a friendly wager on tonight’s football game between Rosemount and Edina. If the Irish win, Rep. Edelson will volunteer at a local food shelf of her choice in our community. If the Hornets take home a victory, I'll sign up for a shift at a food shelf in her district. Game on! See you at the stadium tonight 7:30.

The Rosemount Halloween Committee and Parks and Recreation Department is hosting for the 39th year its annual Haunted Woods Trail on Saturday. The event will be at Central Park across from City Hall from 6:00-8:00 p.m. I hope you'll swing by to say hello! More details here.

The House Capital Investment Committee completed our tour of proposed sites of state investment throughout southwest Minnesota last week, with a large portion of the stops and presentations focused on the region’s aging water infrastructure. Everyone in our state deserves reliable access to clean water and I was glad I had the opportunity to see firsthand the repairs and updates needed to make this a reality.

In addition to numerous wastewater treatment plants, water towers, and public utility sites, we also visited state colleges and universities, public safety facilities, community centers, and other sites. Next month, we’re scheduled to visit the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs, including our district. Stay tuned for more details.
