Release: House Capital Investment Committee considers Huot proposal to build a new public safety and public works facility in Rosemount

Tuesday, April 5, 2022

ST. PAUL – Today, the House Capital Investment Committee considered legislation authored by Representative John Huot (DFL-Rosemount) to fund the construction of a new public safety and public works facility in Rosemount.

“Public safety is a cornerstone of our communities,” said Rep. Huot. “I’m glad to author this legislation so we can better ensure our local public workers have the tools they need to deliver the services our neighbors need and deserve.”

Under Rep. Huot’s legislation, $31 million in state bonds would be provided for a grant via the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and awarded to the city of Rosemount to construct, engineer, furnish, and equip a new public safety and public works facility. Rosemount Mayor Bill Droste and City Administrator Martin Logan spoke to the need of the project.

Rep. Huot’s bill is being considered for inclusion to a future Capital Investment or “bonding” bill. A recording of the hearing can be found on the nonpartisan House Public Information’s YouTube channel
