Dear Neighbors,

Happy 2024! The legislative session starts on February 12th and I’ve been working in our community and across the state on a variety of issues in anticipation.

You're invited to join me and our neighbors for a casual indoor gathering at The Meeting Point at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 10.

It’ll be a chance to catch up after the holidays, get together, and share what’s on your mind. These are always nonpartisan and I appreciate hearing from you and helping answer questions.

Here’s an update on what I’ve been working on for us:

EMS Task Force Work

Serving as the House Chair of the EMS Task Force has kept me quite busy this winter. We’ve already held 4 meetings; one on the Iron Range, another in Northwestern, and one each in Southeastern and Southwestern Minnesota.

We’re digging deep into the EMS challenges of rural Minnesota by going directly to these regional communities to hear from Minnesotans who are impacted. There have been so many powerful stories, but I’m most impressed with the common thread I’m seeing as I run these meetings; how much people care, and show up to serve their communities and neighbors.

EMS Task Force Meeting

Our next meeting brings us to Winona, Minnesota on Saturday, February 3. If you’re interested in following along with our progress, you can subscribe to notifications of hearings here.

New Funding for Highway 52/County Rd Interchange

Earlier this month $2.4 million in state funding was delivered to our community to improve the existing Highway 52/County Road 42 interchange in Rosemount. This includes adding new traffic signals and improving turn lane capacity from Highway 52 onto County Road 42. The funding for this project comes from the state’s competitive Transportation Economic Development (TED) program, which is administered by the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Rosemount and our neighboring communities thrive when we make meaningful investments in transportation infrastructure. The funding for this project will help improve safety and ease congestion at the interchange.

Keep in Touch

As I mentioned above, the legislative session is just around the corner. I hope to see you on Saturday, February 10!  Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or if I can be of any assistance at rep.john.huot@house.mn.gov or 651-296-4306.

Thank you for the honor of representing our Rosemount, Apple Valley, and Eagan neighbors at the State Capitol.

Have a great week,

John
