Dear Neighbors,

It seems nicer weather is on the way and just in time for the best state fair in the country- the Great Minnesota Get Together!

State Fair

I hope you’ll stop by the Minnesota Education Building to take a moment to check out the 2025 State Fair Survey. Even if you’re not planning to go this year, please feel free to weigh in on your thoughts on these questions, or any other topic of interest.

Local Updates

The roundabout near Rosemount High School is completed- and just in time for the school year!

This initiative began when Rosemount High School students brought their vision forward and actively helped craft this necessary safety update. The effort involved multiple folks including the city of Rosemount, our police department, the school district, and former Senator Greg Clausen, with whom I worked closely on transportation committees. As we near completion, this project represents more than infrastructure—it's our commitment to students and their safety. Thank you to everyone who made this vision a reality.

Roundabout

After 15+ years of co-managing Rosemount football concessions, I have decided to step back and let fresh voices bring new energy to the program. While I'm transitioning from this role, my passion for our community remains strong – in fact, I'm returning to the field as a sports official at 60! As we kick off fall sports this week, I encourage others to consider officiating and remind everyone to show our students we support them. Whether volunteering in concessions or officiating games, it's this spirit of community involvement that makes Rosemount athletics truly special.

Football

And speaking of athletics and football, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our coaches and administration for recognizing the importance of implementing and embracing the use of the Guardian Cap, a revolutionary piece of equipment introduced by the NFL as an optional safeguard for players. The Guardian Cap is designed to spread out the impact during collisions, effectively mitigating the risk of concussions and other head-related injuries.Wishing our players a safe and successful season ahead!

Great to be with the community and celebrate the opening of Emerald Trail Elementary School! Minnesota students deserve access to the best educators, facilities, and programs. Excited to continue partnering with our local education leaders to get the best outcome for our kids.

Highway 3 Open and Your Input on CR 42 & HWY 52 is Needed

Good news for Rosemount! Highway 3 is now open and the roundabout has been finished, which is so important to keep our high school students and staff safe. Building on these safety improvements, Dakota County is planning additional enhancements to County Rd 42 (145th St) and the Highway 52 interchange in Rosemount, and your input is needed!

You're invited to attend the Transportation Open House on Aug. 25 from 4-6 p.m. at the Rosemount Public Works Building to learn about proposed safety and traffic flow improvements from the project team and share your feedback and questions directly with them. Your feedback will help shape the final design, so stop by and share your thoughts! To learn more about the project, visit: https://www.co.dakota.mn.us/.../PlannedCon.../CR42-Highway52

Improving Access to Respiratory Care

I recently participated in a conference in D.C., with colleagues on both sides of the aisle from the House and representatives from various states, focusing on the licensing of respiratory care professionals across state lines. As demand for respiratory care continues to rise, we need a better approach to licensing that allows qualified practitioners to operate efficiently across regional barriers, ensuring patients have access to care wherever they are. This conference provided an excellent platform for sharing best practices and innovative solutions, and I'm optimistic our discussions will lead to meaningful advancements that benefit both professionals and patients in Minnesota.

Please continue to keep in touch anytime with input or questions. I’m always happy to help.

Thank you for the honor of serving our Rosemount, Apple Valley, and Eagan neighbors in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Take care,

John
