Yesterday, I sent a letter to a judge who, earlier this week ruled that Northern Metals can continue operating and polluting in our community. Northern Metals had agreed to close by August 1, and the health risks it causes are undeniable. You can read news coverage here.
The zipcode where Northern Metals is operating has asthma hospitalization rates 5 times the state average, and much higher than average lead concentrations. Our community deserves better, and my colleagues and I sent a letter requesting that the Court consider the people impacted, not the corporations who have broken the law. I will continue to fight for clean water and air in all communities throughout our state.
