SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Rep. Liz Reyer (DFL – Eagan) issued the following statement in response to the verdict reached in the trial of Derek Chauvin:
“I am relieved and grateful that Derek Chauvin will be held accountable for the murder of George Floyd. However, this verdict does not erase the immense grief and trauma that Mr. Floyd’s family, friends, and community were forced to endure over the past year or the many injustices that Black Minnesotans continue to face. Justice will not be served until everyone is safe and able to thrive in Minnesota, no matter where we live and what we look like. We must keep working to transform public safety and enact meaningful police reform and accountability.”
