Release: House Veterans Affairs Committee Discusses Rep. Clardy’s Legislation to Expand Therapy Coverage for Veterans and Their Spouses

Tuesday, February 14, 2023

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Yesterday, the House Veterans and Military Affairs Committee discussed legislation authored by Rep. Mary Frances Clardy (DFL-Inver Grove Heights) to increase funding and expand the scope of the Veterans Resilience Project to make Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy available to not only current servicemembers and veterans, but also to their spouses.

“I’m deeply grateful for the bipartisan support this critical bill earned in our committee,” said Rep. Clardy, who serves on the House Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. “As civilians, Minnesotans, and Americans, it’s our responsibility to ensure everyone who has served our country, including their spouses, can have access to the Post Traumatic Stress therapy they deserve.”

The Veteran Resilience Project serves all Minnesota Veterans who experience trauma, post-traumatic symptoms (PTS), Military Sexual Trauma, adjustment challenges, or moral injury, both on and off the battlefield, through a statewide network of accredited EMDR therapists providing affordable, confidential therapy and effective treatments for PTS and Trauma.

The bill is being considered for inclusion in a larger package of veterans-related legislation.
