RELEASE: Jim Joy Sworn-In to First Term as State Representative

Tuesday, January 3, 2023

SAINT PAUL, MN – Representative Jim Joy, R-Hawley, took the oath of office to begin his first term Tuesday at the beginning of the 2023 legislative session. Joy will represent the new District 4B which includes most of Clay County and the western portion of Becker County. Cities in the district include the northern portion of Moorhead, as well as Detroit Lakes, Dilworth, Hawley, and Barnesville.

Prior to the start of session. Joy was appointed to serve on the State and Local Government Finance & Policy and the Taxes Committees.

“It is an honor to serve my neighbors in District 4B at the Capitol,” said Joy. “As a former Mayor and a small business owner, I look forward to bringing my experiences to the State and Local Government and Taxes Committees to make our state more affordable for all. While Minnesota families are dealing with soaring inflation, government is flush with a $17.6 billion surplus. It is time to provide permanent tax cuts for all families so they can keep more of their hard-earned money.”

Constituents can contact Joy at 651-296-6829 or by email at rep.jim.joy@house.mn.gov. His office is located on the third floor of the State Office Building in room 315. Mail can be sent to:
