Joy Takes Oath of Office, Announces Committee Assignments for 2025-2026 Legislative Session

Saint Paul, MN – Today, Representative Jim Joy (R – Hawley) was officially sworn in for his second term in the Minnesota House of Representatives as the 2025 Legislative Session began.

“It is an honor to serve my neighbors in District 4B at the Capitol,” said Joy. “As a former Mayor and a small business owner, I understand the importance of delivering on issues that matter most to Minnesotans,” Rep. Joy emphasizes that “we need to ease the financial burdens on families, fighting for tax relief, ensuring our elections are secure, putting an end to fraud in government programs, and building a strong foundation for the future of Minnesota.”

Most of Rep. Joy’s work during the first months of session will occur in House committees. For the 2025-2026 legislative biennium, Joy will serve as the GOP Vice Chair on the Taxes Committee. He has also been assigned to the Transportation Finance and Policy Committee and the State Government Finance and Policy Committee.

"The challenges we face as a state are real, but so are the opportunities to make Minnesota a better place for all,” said Rep. Joy. “This session, I will work tirelessly to ensure we create lasting solutions for our families, our communities, and our businesses. Together, we can build a future that honors our values, supports growth, and strengthens Minnesota for generations to come."

Rep. Joy encourages constituents in District 4B to stay involved and contact him if they have any legislative questions, concerns, or ideas.
