Legislative Update

Friday, March 31, 2023

Dear Neighbors,

At the House we have been working night and day to craft our various budget bills. While there is still a lot of session left, this puts us in the final stretch! I’ll be sure to update you when we pass our budgets off of the floor and how they’ll impact you.

Here is an update from the Capitol:

1. Highway 65 - Still Rolling Along

  • I presented a bill for Highway 65 supported by our bipartisan Blaine delegation in the House Capital Investment Committee!
  • We’re continuing to explore all angles to get the funding for this long overdue project.
  • Watch my presentation on this critical issue here.

2. National Sports Center - For Athletes of All Abilities

  • The Capitol Investment Committee also heard my bill for an exciting component of our vision for the National Sports Center: a barrier-free, adaptive sports complex that could also be used for rugby!
  • The National Sports Center is the economic engine of our community, so I’m proud to carry this legislation that will make the NSC more accessible for athletes of all abilities.
  • Watch my presentation here.

3. Manufactured Housing Funds - Making More Homes More Affordable

  • This week in the Housing Committee, we approved our budget bill that included major investments I authored  in manufactured housing!
  • $25 million in financing to help residents with purchasing a manufactured home, making down payments, or improving an existing home or lot.
  • $10 million for a cooperative purchasing program to help residents purchase their parks.
  • I’ll keep pushing for this legislation and hope to see it in the final bill!
