With only a few weeks left, things are really coming down to the wire at the Capitol. We’ve made great progress with our various budget bills, but we still have a lot of work left. I’m feeling confident that we’ll be able to wrap everything up by our May 19th adjournment date. But no matter what happens, I’m ready to stay as long as needed to craft a budget that moves Minnesota forward.
Manufactured Housing Resident Rally - People Powered Change
The Capitol rotunda was filled on Tuesday with manufactured housing residents from Blaine, Lexington, and across the state!
They were there to advocate for my Manufactured Housing Resident Bill of Rights which would prevent unfair rent increases, give residents a true opportunity to purchase their park, and provide better enforcement of resident protections.
Three of my bills were included in the Housing Budget Bill we passed through the House in bipartisan fashion this week.
$2 million will go to the Manufactured Home Community Redevelopment Program, which funds infrastructure improvements to address the needs of aging manufactured home communities around the state.
$3 million will go to the Workforce and Affordable Homeownership Program, which provides grants to cities, Tribal governments, nonprofit organizations, cooperatives, and community land trusts to increase the supply of workforce and affordable, owner-occupied multifamily or single-family housing throughout Minnesota.
$10 million will go to the Greater Minnesota Workforce Housing Development program, which has built or financed nearly 1,000 rental homes since 2017, almost all of them in towns with fewer than 5,000 people.
Medicaid Fraud Prevention Bill Passes the House - Protecting Public Dollars
My bipartisan bill to prevent Medicaid fraud passed the House yesterday as part of the State Government Finance bill.
This bill provides additional funding and tools for the Attorney General’s Office to investigate and prosecute Medicaid Fraud.
