RELEASE: Infrastructure Projects in Excelsior, Long Lake, Minnetrista, and Orono Make State Bonding Tour

Tuesday, October 17, 2023

ST. PAUL – State Representative Andrew Myers, R-Tonka Bay, announced today that infrastructure projects in Excelsior, Long Lake, Minnestrista, and Orono are scheduled to be visited by the House Capital Investment Committee next month during an upcoming tour. Committee members will visit Excelsior on November 14th where they will get a firsthand look at projects in Excelsior before hearing presentations on proposed infrastructure improvements for the communities of Long Lake, Minnetrista, and Orono.

“I want to thank Chair Fue Lee, Lead Dean Urdahl, Committee Administrator Jenny Nash and staff for working with me to make sure our communities would be included on next month’s tour,” said Myers. “Residents in our communities depend on vital infrastructure that provides safe drinking water, transportation, utilities, and public safety needs.”

This year, Representative Myers secured $10.3 million for “clean water” infrastructure for the residents of Mound.  He continues working with Governor Walz and his office to make Mound part of the Governors Infrastructure Proposal, so that the project can be fully funded and completed.

Myers continued, “As a new member, I have worked hard to put the needs and the priorities of my community first, build relationships across the aisle and work towards balanced policies for families in my district and all of Minnesota. Improving local infrastructure was a top priority for many in our area, so I have made that a big focus of my work this year.”

The Committee’s visit will include presentations on Minnetrista’s water infrastructure needs, road reconstruction in Long Lake, a storage and handling facility in Orono in addition to a tour of proposed water main, storm sewer and road infrastructure improvements in Excelsior.
