Capitol Newsletter from Rep. Andrew Myers

Monday, February 19, 2024

Dear Neighbors,

The 2024 legislative session officially started last week, and it is good to be back at the capitol in St. Paul to continue my work serving you, your family, and Your Backyard.

Since day one, I have worked hard to put the needs and the priorities of our communities first, build relationships across the aisle, and work towards balanced solutions for families in our district and all of Minnesota. This includes supporting our schools, reducing the financial burden on families caused by high taxation and inflation, protecting the environment, addressing infrastructure needs, and much more. Together, we can build strong communities and make sure Minnesota remains the best place to work, live, and raise a family.

With the new legislative session underway, it is important that I hear directly from you about your priorities and what you’d like to see happen this year. Please visit this link for a survey where you can easily share your thoughts and priorities with me: https://forms.gle/axdYKRz9Addb1in7A

Prioritizing Boater Safety on Lake Minnetonka

I wanted to share that I have introduced legislation that will help raise funds to promote and teach boater safety for the crown jewel of our area, Lake Minnetonka. My bill creates a brand-new Lake Minnetonka themed license plate with proceeds going to the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District to promote boater safety on the lake.

Supporting Businesses and Employees

Small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities. They provide goods and services that we all depend on and well-paying jobs for you, your family, and your neighbors.

Many businesses continue to struggle with workforce issues. That’s why I introduced legislation last week that would provide important tax incentives for businesses that employ less than 50 people.

Minnesota and our area are home to some of the most talented owners, operators, and employees. That’s why we need more policies to help promote businesses in our backyard and across the state.

Staying in Touch

Make sure to reach out to me if you plan on being in St. Paul sometime soon. It would be great to meet with you and give you a tour. In the meantime, keep an eye on your email inbox as I will be sending out regular correspondence on what’s happening here at the legislature.

Have a great day!
