Legislative Update

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am so grateful to share that on Tuesday, January 14, I was officially sworn in as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. This marks the beginning of my first term, and I cannot express how honored I am to serve you, the people of District 18A. As a mother, a community member, and now your voice at the Capitol, I am ready to work hard every day to make sure that your voices are heard!

In the coming months, much of my work will take place in various House Committees. I am proud to serve as the Republican Vice Chair of the Higher Education Finance and Policy Committee, as well as serving on the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee and the Taxes Committee. As you know, these are critical policy areas for our district as well as our state, and I look forward to making a positive impact in each of them.

As I begin my work in these committees, I am committed to advocating for policies that expand educational opportunities for all people, ensuring every child has the resources and support they need to thrive. I will also work tirelessly to alleviate the financial burdens on families by implementing policies that reduce taxes and provide financial relief where it is most needed. Additionally, I will advocate for providing our local law enforcement with the essential resources they need to keep our neighborhoods safe.

A Committment to Integrity

As we begin the new legislative session, I believe that it is important to address the actions recently taken by my Democrat colleagues. On the evening of January 12, DFL House members held a secret, illegitimate swearing-in ceremony— an act that not only undermined the formal oath process but was deliberately disrespectful to the hardworking voters who entrusted them with the responsibilities they were elected to carry out. Additionally, they have chosen to disregard their legislative duties by refusing to show up to work while still collecting their tax-payer funded checks.

But let me be clear: I did not stand alone in this moment. Standing alongside 66 of my fellow Republican colleagues, I took my oath with a promise to the people of Minnesota. We swore to show up every single day, to work tirelessly, and to never lose sight of the future we are building for this state. We promise to be the advocates, the fighters, and the leaders that Minnesota deserves.
