Legislative Update

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Welcome to week two of the Republican majority! It feels so good to be pushing bills through committees and making real progress for the people of Minnesota. We're back in session, and committees are in full swing, hearing important legislation—some of which was delayed due to the disruption caused by the Supreme Court's ruling on quorum requirements. But despite that setback, we're not slowing down!

While Democrats seem content to avoid addressing their record of enabling fraud and raising taxes, Republicans are leading the charge on the priorities that matter most to Minnesotans. We’re focused on stopping fraud, making Minnesota more affordable, and ensuring our communities remain safe.

Let’s keep the momentum going and work together to build a brighter future for Minnesota!

Also, exciting news—I just launched my official Representative Facebook page!  Stay up to date with the latest legislative updates, community events, and ways to get involved. You can follow along here!

Breakfast & Big Conversations with Local Educators

1

This past Saturday, I had the great opportunity to join Rep. Luke Fredericks and Sen. Nick Frentz for breakfast with several of our incredible local teachers. Over coffee and good food, we listened to their concerns, discussed their priorities for this session, and had some truly meaningful conversations about the challenges they face in the classroom.

Hearing directly from those who dedicate so much to our students and communities is invaluable. House Republicans are committed to doing everything we can to support our educators and ensure they have the resources they need to succeed. You show up for our kids every day—now it’s our turn to show up for you!

Supporting Business Growth in Mankato

1

This week, we had a great meeting with Ryan Vesey, Business Development Director at Greater Mankato Growth and a dedicated constituent from Mankato. We discussed the challenges and opportunities facing local businesses, from workforce development to reducing regulatory burdens. It’s always valuable to hear directly from those working to strengthen our local economy and create more opportunities for Minnesotans.

A big thank you to Ryan for taking the time to share his insights—together, we’re working to make Minnesota a place where businesses can thrive!

A Fun Run-In!

1

It’s always a pleasant surprise when you bump into someone who’s doing great work, and that’s exactly what happened when I spontaneously ran into Charles from Mankato State University's "Students United" group at the Capitol!

For those who don’t know, Students United is a student-led organization that represents over 65,000 students from Minnesota’s seven state universities. They’re all about advocating for policies that make higher education more affordable and accessible for everyone. We had a great chat about some of the big issues students are facing today, like improving resources, fighting for affordability, and, of course, making sure students have a voice in decisions that affect their future.

It was awesome to hear about all the work they’re doing, and I’m excited to keep collaborating with them to ensure Minnesota students have the support they need!

Want to learn more about what they’re up to? Check out their website at studentsunited.org and see all the incredible things they’re working on.

Fighting for Southern Minnesota: Connecting with Grassroots Leaders

Schwartz

I had the privilege of joining Congressman Brad Finstad at the Nicollet County BPOU Meeting, where we connected with grassroots conservatives who are working hard to shape the future of our state. It was great to hear from so many engaged community members who care deeply about the direction of Minnesota.

Congressman Finstad and I discussed the challenges facing our families, farmers, and small businesses—from the need for tax relief to protecting our rural way of life. These conversations are invaluable as I continue fighting for common-sense policies that put Minnesotans first.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen, learn, and work alongside leaders like Congressman Finstad and all of you. Your voices matter, and I’ll keep advocating for the values that make our communities strong!

Stay Connected!

I always want to hear from you! Your thoughts, concerns, and ideas help guide the work I do for our district. Whether you have questions about a specific issue or just want to stay informed about what’s happening at the Capitol, don’t hesitate to reach out. My office is here to serve you, and I’m always ready to listen.

It’s an honor to represent District 18A, and I look forward to continuing our work together to make Minnesota a better place for everyone.

Sincerely,

Representative Erica Schwartz
Minnesota House of Representatives, District 18A
