Interim NewsDear friends and neighbors, Happy Halloween! As the kids head out for an evening of trick-or-treating, I hope everyone stays safe, warm, and enjoys a fun night with family and friends. Whether you’re out collecting candy, handing out treats, or just enjoying the fall festivities, it’s a great reminder of the strong community spirit that makes our towns such wonderful places to live. House Republicans Call on Senators to End the ShutdownWe’ve heard you loud and clear—Minnesotans are tired of the gridlock in Washington. Families just want to know they can put food on the table and count on the programs they depend on. House Republicans care deeply about the wellbeing of all Minnesotans, and that’s why we’ve called on Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith to help end this senseless shutdown before it hurts even more families. The truth is, the House has already acted in a bipartisan way to reopen the government and prevent a lapse in the SNAP program that’s set to take place November 1. Even a few Senate Democrats have joined that effort. But unfortunately, Senators Klobuchar and Smith have continued to side with party leadership to keep the shutdown going. It’s time to put people over politics and get this done. Minnesotans deserve leadership that’s focused on real solutions—not political games. Trailblazing Women, Transforming Communities Over the weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to speak at the Minnesota Federation of Republican Women Convention. I was honored to share a legislative update and a few words about the incredible impact women have when they step up and lead in the political arena. It was truly inspiring to be surrounded by so many smart, driven, and passionate women who are shaping the future of our state—one conversation, one campaign, and one act of courage at a time. Whether you were part of the event or are reading this from home, I want to encourage you to get involved in your community. Your voice, your perspective, and your leadership matter—now more than ever. Wishing You a Spooktacular Halloween! As the sun sets and little ghouls and goblins take to the streets tonight, I hope your evening is full of laughter, treats (maybe just a few tricks!), and safe adventures with family and friends. As always, thank you for taking a few minutes out of your week to stay informed and engaged—it truly means a lot. Your time and attention help make our community stronger, and I’m grateful to have such thoughtful neighbors alongside me. Enjoy the costumes, the candy, and the fall festivities—and remember, whether you’re handing out treats or sneaking a few for yourself, have a fun and safe Halloween! Sincerely, Representative Erica Schwartz Minnesota House of Representatives, District 18A |
