Statement from Rep. Sexton on End of Legislative Session
St. Paul, MN — The 2025 legislative session adjourned yesterday, Monday, May 19th at midnight. Rep. Tom Sexton (R-Waseca) made the following statement about the conclusion of the session and pending special session.
"We made a lot of progress this session, particularly on core issues such as fraud, public safety, and services for veterans. I was proud to serve in the negotiation process for several of these bills that secured huge wins for Minnesotans overall. We ran short on time, largely due to the Democrat's 23-day boycott, which means that we are tying up loose ends in negotiations so that we can pass outstanding bills in a short special session. I am thankful for the opportunity to represent our district here at the Capitol and I look forward to sharing the outcome of the final bills after the special session takes place. Currently, I am part of the team negotiating the Energy Policy and Finance Omnibus bill which is keeping me up in St. Paul this week."
The details of the special session are yet to be determined.
