THEIS RECEIVES HOUSING LEADERSHIP AWARD
ST. PAUL, MN — On Tuesday, Rep. Tama Theis, R-St. Cloud, was named one of the recipients of the 2021 Housing Leadership Award by Housing First Minnesota. Theis serves as the Republican Lead on the House Housing Finance and Policy Committee.
"The legislature took important steps this year on Housing policy, but we know there's more we need to do to make housing more affordable across Minnesota and make the dream of homeownership a reality for more families. Minnesota remains one of the most expensive states in the Midwest to build a home, but thankfully we have a bipartisan group of legislators focused on this issue and ready to work together to bring down housing costs and streamline expensive regulations."
“With inventory at an all-time low, affordability at its worst in decades and the widest homeownership gap in the country, Minnesota’s housing market is at a pivot point,” said David Siegel, executive director of Housing First Minnesota. “These leaders recognize the need to legalize starter homes by addressing the way we zone and permit new housing. The Housing Leadership Award recognizes legislators who worked to promote housing affordability and homeownership during the 2021 legislative session and special session.”
