ST. PAUL – Following a visit with two group homes in Benson, State Representative Tim Miller (R-Prinsburg) left the gathering inspired by the residents he met and the people who care for them.

"As a parent of a special needs child I am so thankful for these professionals who are willing to give themselves to the care of vulnerable children and adults in our area," Miller said. "These programs are truly a blessing to the Benson community."

Miller, who was joined by Minnesota House Agriculture Policy Chairman Paul Anderson, toured Swift County Homes, Inc. and Swift County Developmental Achievement Center and met with residents and facility leaders on January 20.

Miller said they were both very impressed with the highly trained staff and their care for vulnerable adults.

"What we learned is that there is a need for more care providers," Miller said. "As a state we need to make the care of special needs adults and children a priority and spend any new money on programs like this before expanding into new, unproven programs such as universal pre-Kindergarten."
