The Budget and State Funds
This year is a budget year here at the Minnesota Legislature. As legislators, my colleagues and I are responsible to put together a balanced budget that will cover the next two years. However, this budget year is significantly different from budget years past. As many of you know, our federal government passed a $1.9 trillion spending bill. This federal spending bill will send billions of dollars to Minnesota.
This additional federal money will complicate the budget process here in Minnesota. As the budget process progresses, you will hear a lot about one-time spending and ongoing spending. Please watch the video below to hear more about one-time spending, ongoing spending, and our budget process.
