Rep. Pérez-Vega joins Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe leaders and Saint Paul officials at Renaming Ceremony

ST. PAUL, MN – Today, State Representative María Isa Pérez-Vega (DFL-Saint Paul) joined Chief Virgil Wind, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, and MN Wild CEO Craig Leopold at the official renaming and partnership ceremony of the Grand Casino Arena, formerly known as the Xcel Center in St. Paul, the official home of the MN Wild and Frost.  

“It was a pleasure to celebrate with Chief Virgil Wind, Mayor Melvin Carter, and MN Wild CEO Craig Leopold as they exchanged remarks and highlighted the outstanding efforts to foster business growth and vitality in Downtown St. Paul,” Rep. María Isa Pérez-Vega. “This celebration is a testament to what we can achieve when we unite for both economic vitality and cultural recognition. This celebration and partnership are more than just about renaming the arena; it's about honoring a rich heritage and ensuring that the story of the Ojibwe people is a central part of our community's narrative. Miigwech, and I look forward to the continued and future opportunities for all constituents of District 65B to celebrate.”
