Ice Cream and Advocacy at the CapitolWednesday was a full day at the Capitol. The Minnesota Milk Producers Association was in town and provided ice cream to legislators and staff - a fun tradition that also helps remind us of the vital role agriculture plays in our economy. That afternoon, I joined a rally in support of nonpublic schools. The turnout was strong, and the message was clear: Minnesota families want real school choice, and they won’t stay quiet while the Governor attempts to slash support for nonpublic students. I’ve received many emails and calls from people across our district, and I want you to know that I’ll continue standing up for educational options that work for all families. Minnesota Milk Producers - Ice Cream at the Capitol A “No” Vote on the Human Services BillEarlier this week, I voted no on the Human Services budget bill. The language in this bill contained too many mandates that shift costs onto counties and local governments without offering the necessary state funding. That’s simply not sustainable for our rural communities. I'll be the first one to say we need to get the state budget under control and while this bill is still an improvement from what we've seen in years past, this is not how we get there. I will continue to push for a responsible budget that doesn't overburden our counties and local governments. Appointed to the Agriculture Conference CommitteeI’m honored to share that I’ve been selected to serve on the Agriculture Conference Committee. Today, we held our first meeting to compare the House and Senate versions of the agriculture budget. I’m committed to making sure the final bill reflects the needs of our farmers and supports the ag community that feeds and fuels Minnesota. Happy Mother’s DayLastly, I want to wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms and grandmas across our communities. Your love and sacrifice don’t go unnoticed! Have a Happy Mother’s Day - I hope it's filled with relaxation and time with family! |
