House Speaker Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, and House Republican Floor Leader Harry Niska, R-Ramsey, issued the following statement reacting to news that the Walz Administration has contracted with a third-party vendor to review Medicaid billing for 14 “high-risk” Medicaid services.
“It is shocking to learn that the Walz Administration has only now identified 14 programs as high risk for Medicaid fraud. Minnesotans have watched scandal after scandal unfold under Governor Walz, but the fact that there are more than a dozen programs under suspicion proves that Walz’s fraud crisis is far worse, and far more widespread, than anyone was led to believe by the administration.
“Independent audits are essential to uncovering and stopping fraud in Minnesota, and while it’s encouraging to see another tool being utilized to combat the explosion of fraud on Walz’s watch, we still must pass legislation next session to create a Legislative Office of the Inspector General to deliver real accountability and transparency in state government.”
