Dear Neighbor,
A working weekend is in store for the House as we look to put an exclamation point on how much better off Minnesotans are when Republicans have a voice in state government.
People have made it clear they want accountability for the fraud happening in Minnesota’s state government. Families, businesses and local governments alike are asking for relief from taxes and the costly new mandates enacted by the former trifecta. House Republicans listened to those concerns and have focused heavily this session on combating fraud, providing property tax relief, improving school safety, cutting car tab fees, delivering relief for counties, and modernizing government systems.
The pieces are in place to secure wins in each of those areas. Those are our biggest priorities, and we can accomplish them without raising taxes and instead finding ways to reprioritize and reduce spending in other areas.
Contrast that with what Minnesotans dealt with in 2023-24 under a Democrat trifecta that spent the $18 billion surplus, raised taxes by $10 billion, increased state spending by 40 percent and continued turning a blind eye toward our state’s rampant fraud problem.
We heard from Minnesotans who grew tired of the former trifecta catering to the radical activists instead of passing laws to help all Minnesotans. They wanted a more balanced approach at the Capitol and that’s what House Republicans are providing. It hasn’t been easy in a tied House, but I’m proud of the work we’re doing and look forward to dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on bills to make our session priorities become reality for Minnesotans.
Look for more from the House as we put the finishing touches on what’s shaping up to be a great legislative session for Minnesotans. I’ll be back with more on what we achieved once the details are in place and bills are approved by the time we adjourn on Monday.
Sincerely,
Harry
