Dear Neighbors,

I hope you’re enjoying the start to summer! With the 2026 session adjourned, I’ll be joining my Duluth Legislative Colleagues for a Town Hall on Monday, June 29th, to talk about the bills we passed, the progress we protected, and the crucial work that remains. I hope you can join us!

We’ll be at the Duluth Convention Center, in Lake Superior Ballroom J, starting at 6:00pm. This will also be a great opportunity to hear from our neighbors, and the questions, comments, concerns, and ideas you have to make Duluth and Minnesota a better place.

Feel free to submit questions in advance here

There’s no shortage of topics for us to discuss. Looking back on my first term as your state representative, I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish and the progress we were able to protect, especially in the tied Minnesota House. At the same time, there’s much more we could’ve done with just one more vote to meet this moment in our state - gun violence prevention, support and protections for those impacted by Operation Metro Surge, and additional solutions to make life more affordable for Minnesotans, to name a few.

Still, we pulled together to deliver meaningful accomplishments for Duluth and the entire state, including our $1.2 billion infrastructure and local jobs bills, with over $25.7 million going directly to our community. That includes updates to the DECC, the airport, our water systems, and the new Union Gospel Mission site. We also passed $40 million in rental assistance, and $100 million in funding for new homes.

My bill to extend line-of-duty death benefits to the families of public safety workers who die from work-related medical conditions is now law. I also co-authored the legislation establishing the Office of the Inspector General, and supported updates to our state’s IT systems - both successful proposals that will be crucial in detecting and fighting fraud.

There’s much more work to do, but it’s work I’m honored to do alongside our neighbors. Regardless of whether you can join us on Monday, should you or your family need anything, please feel free to contact my office for assistance. Thank you for the honor of representing our community.

In solidarity,

Pete Johnson
