Capitol Newsletter from Rep. Danny Nadeau

Wednesday, February 1, 2023

Hello,

It’s amazing how fast this session is going. Before I get into it, I wanted to take just a moment to thank all of you who supported me. It’s truly an honor to be the Representative for Rogers, Dayton and Champlin. I will work hard for all Minnesotans and do everything I can to find common ground that brings us together and serves people.

2023 Legislative Session Underway

The 2023 legislative session began earlier this month as I joined 133 of my House colleagues in taking the oath-of-office. Since that day, the pace has been fast and furious in St. Paul.

Session started on a bipartisan note as we unanimously approved the first bill of the year on a vote of 132-0. This legislation aligned Minnesota’s tax code with changes made at the federal level.

Federal conformity was needed to ease filing compliance burdens and to help Minnesotans that were hardest hit from pandemic shutdowns – especially those in the restaurant, hospitality, and entertainment industries. I was proud to support this legislation.

I was pleased to see things start on a positive and collaborative tone. As a legislator, I look forward to continuing to bridge divides and find solutions that make Minnesota the best place to live, work, and raise a family.

Committee Assignments

Most of my work during the first months of session will take place in House committees. For the next two years. I will serve on the Health Finance and Policy Committee and the State and Local Government Finance and Policy Committee. Additionally, I was appointed to serve on the Legislative Commission on Pensions and Retirement.

My background in county and township government will serve me well in my work on these committees.

Staying in Touch

Government works best when it is responsive and transparent, and accessible when people need it. That’s why it is my duty to be an active participant in our community and to be responsive to the voice of the people I represent.

To that end, I encourage you to always reach out to me to share any thoughts, questions, or concerns you may have. I can be reached by phone at 651-296-4315 or via email at rep.danny.nadeau@house.mn.gov.

Have a great day,

Danny
